How preoccupied are we?

Yesterday was our anniversary. Married Aug 25, 1973. Neither Marilyn or I realized it till 4:00 in the afternoon when Marilyn's sister texted a happy anniversary to her.

She wished me happy anniversary at 6:00 pm and my first thought was "it is?" The next thought was "uh oh, I didn't get her a flower or a card". She forgot to get me a card too so we were even. LOL. I had written a couple of checks earlier in the day and I remember dating them 8/25/14 but that didn't even jog my memory.

We've had a good marriage and good health with no bumps along the way, well, maybe one bump when I tangled with our priest and Marilyn darned near moved in with our daughter till things cooled down but that's another story.

Anyway, perhaps our lives next year will be a little more relaxed so we can enjoy the anniversary of this blessed event. Jim

It was 35 years for us a week ago yesterday. I don't think I've ever forgotten. This year I had smarts enough to get a one day jump on it. I asked her Sunday night where she wanted to go for supper for our anniversary the next night.

Odd thing for us - neither of us even know when we got married.

We both know it was sometime in the fall, we don't even remember what year it was, let alone the actual date.

We did a very small justice of the peace kind of thing, we had been living together for 10 years before getting married, so it really wasn't a big deal.

We don't love each other any less - we're just not big on dates.

Happy Anniversary Jim and Marilyn!Haven't(yet)
forgotten an anniversary, but 'forgot' Mother's day
once.It was not 'pretty'.

The 41st. for me and my better half on Sept. 1st. Haven't got anything special planned. Maybe go out for dinner. About a week ago we both sort of at about the same time realized: "Hey, our annivesary is coming up isn't it? What? Already? Seems like we just had one!" (chuckle)

Got our 2nd anniv. coming up on Monday. Planning on going to WMSTR Rollag show to celebrate. Don't know what else might happen. Her brother's wedding is Saturday so that kinda fills up the weekend.

Congrats.

Our anniversary was last week. 19 yrs for us.

I sat down with my wifes master calendar of events that hangs in our kitchen and entered all the important dates in my phones calendar a couple years ago. I set it to remind me a day before. Works like a charm.

I earned huge bonus points when I sent flowers to her work a few years ago in October. She called me all confused. I told her it was the 20th anniversary of our first date. I was instantly elevated to sainthood by the ladies she works with. lol BW

Congratulations Jim & Marilyn!! You've had a lot on your plate lately. It's easy to forget things under normal circumstances, and expected when you're loaded up with other worries.

We got married on 6/7/67. People often tell me that it was good planning to pick a date that is easily remembered. Planning??? I was 18 years old and she was 17. There was no "planning" involved - it was pure coincidence in our case.

Congrats on staying married. Been 31 years for us.

Just to let you know you failed the test. Your punishment is
coming when you least expect it :). I suggest you now go big
with a gift, dinner, and flowers. Like tonight.

(quoted from post at 14:30:50 08/26/14) Congratulations a day late.
We got married on Valentines Day, hard to forget that one.

We were married September 11 (1976). Hard to forget that one now, although I did once, only once! Our 25th was The Day itself. Not much fun.

Congrats. Been married 40 years back in February
.Have never missed a one. Got married on Ground Hog
Day , not planned either. Good thing is News people
always talk about it for a week before it gets here.

Well, congratulations anyway! We had 42 years together and it got to the point that it was really no big deal. We would always get each other a card and hand deliver it. If the day fell during the week, we would wait until the weekend and go out to a nice place to eat. Hope you have many more.

Congrets Fixerupper.
I'am 1 year and 11 days ahead of you.
Mine was a shotgun wedding.lol

Quick question. My (our) 49th anniversary is Thurs. 08-28-14. Anyone have a good idea for next years 50th without breaking the bank account? Wife wants to go to Hawaii, (she has been there), but I"m not much for sight seeing. More a M-M Tractor Show kind of guy. Thanks, John in Sunny AZ

For the life of me, I can't even imagine the trouble a fella would be in for forgetting a wedding anniversary. But then again, having been married and divorced well over 20 times, I can't imagine having lasted until a first anniversary either.

Congratulations.

Mark

My wife had no problem remembering special days. Reminded me many times. Married Jan 15 1973. 32 years before she died of cancer.

Billy, sorry about your loss. My mother passed from cancer at 46 years old. She and dad had been married 23 years. Losing her took its toll on dad for many years. Jim
