My nephew picked up this '77 T-Bird last week.
All original, including the factory 8 track player.
105K miles on a 351W. He's 23.
That's him under the rear taking care of a bad gas tank strap.
It was the first thing to break since he got it. LOL

Wow, grandma only drove that to the beauty shop on Wednesdays, and to church on Sundays, didn't she. That looks like a really nice car for its age.

I dated an older woman back in the late 70's that had a T bird just like that. At the time I had an old pickup and she had the new T Bird. We always drove her car and I didn't mind. Was a fun couple of years. That has got to be one of the lowest mileage ones left as I haven't seen one in years!

Factory 8 track player, Funny.

If you do not mind me asking what did he buy it for?
The land yachts of the 70s were cool, The Monte Carlos were some of my favorites, The Gran Prix too. A buddy of mine had a 76 Gran Prix, Some of the Buicks were tanks on wheels.

(quoted from post at 19:08:06 08/21/14) Quite possibly the ugliest T-Bird ever made.
Maybe, depending on personal opinion, but I had a 1980.
Built on the Fairlane chassis I think, I thought it was uglier.
Looked like the one below. Then there are those "new" ones.

Wile E, he bought it to cruise with in the summer.
Going to a "cruise in" car show with it this weekend.
He drives a four wheel drive F150 most of the time.

If you mean how much he paid for it, I don't know.
I got the impression it was about $1000, but he didn't
really say and I didn't ask.

Nope, that was a Granada chassis. The last Fairlane was built in 1970 I think.

Ah, Granada chassis, that might have been it.
It sure was ugly! I can't complain about it otherwise.
An uninsured motorist totalled it for me and I still got
more out of it than I paid for it to begin with.
I bought it in 1990 for $137.50 from a Chevy dealer.
Salesman said they couldn't get it to run.
I drove it home.

I loved this model T-Bird when it came out. Sure it was just a Gran Torino Sport with some tweaks. But in my book the tweaks were just right. The Bird had become an overdone Luxury car and this model had a young persons look and was affordable to a young person.

I was Parts Manager for a Ford Auto Dealer for 31 years , in between growing up and working in Farm Equipment Dealership (IH & MF) and then returning to Farm Equipment Dealer (Case/IH) after my Auto gig !

1966 was the last true T-Bird. The rest were just bloated wannabees

The late 80's T birds were built on the fox Mustang chassis front and back with slightly longer floor pans in between, same with Lincoln Mark VII.

Looks just like the one my best friend had in high school. His had T-tops and the trouble we got in for racing it after the engine rebuild with open headers... Also my friend that has the elec start Fordson he built all the bright metal on those cars from the 60's-80's.

Have him replace the entire timing chain and both gears. Very soon.
The plastic will fall off of the cam gear and plug up the oil pump pickup tube...if it doesn't just fail and leave him stranded first.

That is one sharp looking T-bird. While not my favorite, it does look good. style wise and condition wise. It looks as if it has really been cared for. The really ugly T-birds were the four door behemoths.

There's an orange Couger that same body style in this month's
Classic Car magazine. It has just rolled over 10,000 miles and
still has the original plugs, etc. The pics of that have me a
fonder image of that body style than I had from memory.

Very NICE! Those early to mid 70's cars are really gaining value!. I have this 1973 Buick Regal that has a Sept 72 actual build date. Prodution didn't start until end of July so it is one of the very first ones to roll off the line. I love driving it and love the comments and compliments I get and he will love it too!!!

thats one clean t bird! im impressed, most of those were run into the ground and left, always liked them myself, back in the 70's nobody thought they would be worth anything some day, of course they thought that about mustangs too, when i bought my first one a good mustang from the '60's with a 289, was 800 bucks all day long, if it had a rag top it would go for a grand to 1200, now you cant touch one for the price of a new truck

Nice car Royce!

went thru a lot of Mustangs back when they were thought of as just another rusty Ford. LOL
Buying beaters for $100 to get the hood, etc, then scrapping the rest. Bought a rusty 69 Mach 1 once for $50 to get the column, pedals, linkages, etc, to convert a Torino GT to a manual trans. Then junked the rest...sigh
Worked at a Chevy dealership back then and the used car manager hated Fords on the lot. Got a lot of great deals.
best deal was a 67 Mustang fastback, 289, manual trans....$85
Like most here, I'd be very rich if I had kept them all.......
