State Fairs New Tractors

Me and the family are heading over to the West Virginia State fair this afternoon. While the kids will be drooling over the ride - rides, I'll be drooling over the new tractors on display.

Question is - if you were going to buy a new 50ish to 60 ish PTO tractor, what would you buy? I'm pretty sure there will be New Holland, John Deere and Massy Ferguson models on display.

Of course my handy dandy MF50 diesel is only 52 years old, so I really don't see a need to buy an new tractor - but window shopping is cheap!

Thanks,
Bill

I honestly wouldn't buy a new one, even if it was within my budget. All the emissions garbage an electronics.. I'd go with one from the '70s or '80s (or even '90s) and have one I could repair myself.

I bought a Mahindra 5010 and have been pleased with it. They are sold by Case-IH dealer in Plainview MN. They also have dealerships in Kasson, Northfield, and Hastings MN

Why I would buy the one that gave me the most free stuff at the fair! Make sure to tell that to every vendor you see. Get a bag from the first one to carry all your loot in!

Can't say which is best, probably the dealer you have close to you that you have confidence in and are comfortable dealing with. At Indiana State Fair this week saw 5 new tractor displays. Kioti, Kubota, Mahindra, Case-IH, John Deere. Deere was by far largest display. Interesting observation there were more what you might say were "foreign" companies displaying tractors than there were "American" companies. Foreign guys were catering to the under 50 hp crowd.

We enjoyed the fair - don't get out there but once every 3 or 4 years.

The two tractors I liked most were a very simple, new - yet old technology (read looked like a MF135) under a different skin, a Massey Ferguson 2605 and the other was an old MF255 that was being used around the fair - not for sale, but a nice tractor!

Thanks,
Bill
