Anyone with any thoughts and or experence with a 3 point hitch boom mower? Do you have a brand preference?

Depends on useage and material to be cut. I always bought dedicated Tiger mowers for ADOT because the crews were often mowing Ironwood - and also rocks!

I assume that 3-point hitch models are much lighter than the Tiger mowers.

We use Bomford Side arm Boom Mowers for the dykes. The are one of the least used ...and most repaired on the farm. In fact almost every farm has one around here has one, there almost always seems to be someone repairing one at any point of the summer. Pumps are continually shearing the shaft, bearings go regularly...endless joy ;>) but they do a good job. We couldn't be without it.

These are all old machines. A couple guys bought new ones for big bucks, but they seem to work into the repair cycle just as frequently.

Tim I have sold Land Pride rear three point boom mowers and they give good service. Only problem is You need a heavy BIG tractor. Nothing under 100 hp . Just too much weight back there.
