farmall a hyd

Yes first what do you want to use it for. You can add a pump and run it off the gen belt or you can drive one from the pto. The pto would not be "live" and work while the clutch was enguaged where the gen drive would operate as long as the engine was running.

I would like live hyd can I just take off my mag and install a distributor and the pump in front of that?

You would need to make all the parts to do that as there isnt any off the shelf stuff to do that. The pump would need to be small because of the distence between the filter and the front mount but a small pump sure could be mounted there. Easier way would be to change blocks to use a 'C" type pump. I have some blocks that are made for a pump. That has been done even on a B.

I used an old Chevy PS pump and I mounted it on the left side of the engine. I then ran an outlet line from the pump to a control valve. Then I ran a line from the valve to my cylinder with a return line from the cylinder to the reservoir. I also ran a small diameter line off of the control valve to my reservoir to serve as a bypass. It wasn't overly powerful, but it got the job done.

I installed hyd on my A. I bought the center housing, hyd cylinder unit and controls. I put a pump on the left side of the engine. It runs off a belt from the generator belt. I bought the pump from a milatary surplus store. It is a Pesco pump and developes high pressure. My email is open, I could send you pictures if you want them. I also have another center housing if you need it.
