Pro's & con's about forming fresh, locally grown Producer or Consumer Co-op's in your city or neighborhood?

It sounds good on paper, but is it really?
Your thoughts.

The concept is too.

You work with people. With several different ideas and directions, and you all need to pull in the same direction in the end.

That takes a good leader to run things and move in a direction that keeps everyone happy, while the group itself is all willing to pitch in together.

If you get full of folk who want something for nothing, only can see the end of their own nose, and get run by committee and endless meetings to decide when to have another meeting, it goes badly quickly.

If you're talking about a consumer type produce Co-oP to cater to the 2 percenters and back to the landers... I see migraines in your future.
Co-oP's in general can be a good thing as long as you surround yourself with people who intend to operate it as a profit centered business. If you're surrounded with people espousing their 'values' about cooperatives... See above.

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like a big headache.
There are no Co-ops around me, perhaps this is why.
