Which way did it go?

I dropped a piece of brass that is about an inch and a half long and 3/16 in diameter. I looked for it and then gave up. I knew I would find it later. That was in my garage by the way. This morning I found it on the floor in my house. If I am not wearing my shoes, I will some times turn up the cuff of my pants so that I do not get them under my heels when I walk around the house. It must have fallen into the cuff of my pants and fell out when I took them off yesterday. It is a good thing it wasn't very important.

Wife lost a pair of keys yesterday and got in a panic. We re-traced her steps outside; no keys there. I remembered that she went into the garage (which she didn't remember doing). Keys were laying in the middle of the garage floor.

When dad was up in years lost his billfold. Said he know he laid it on the dresser. Look on the floor under the dresser and did not find it. Week later pull the dresser away from the wall and it was sitting on edge on the base board.

Well, I'll tell one on myself here, 'ol scatterbrain here. A couple months ago i cashed a $1200 check at the bank. The teller gave it to me in an envelope, I took $200 out to put in my billfold and put the rest in the armrest of the pickup. Then I went to a bigger town, stopped at a couple of businesses and came home. When I got home I couldn't find the cash anywhere. I scoured the pickup, finding some stuff I hadn't seen for years, but no cash. Then my son scoured the pickup. Nothing! A week passed and my son was looking for something in the pickup and opened the ASH TRAY and there it was. I had put it in the ash tray and later thought I had put it in the arm rest. The ash tray was the only place I did not look, probably because I never use it.

He handed it to me and said "happy Father's Day"! $1000 in cash might not be much for some folks but it's a lot of coffee money for Us. Jim

Granted, I have problems not remembering things, but I'm not near as bad as my wife who is still in her 50's. She'll put thing someplace so she knows where it's at when she wants it, and then doesn't remember where she put it

Back in the early 50's our neighbor came over to ask for some help looking for his wallet. He had been cultivating corn for his dad and figured he lost it in the field. We walked those fields all afternoon -every row -and found nothing. They had an old horsehair cushion on their john deere H and I looked under it, there it was, with $ 20.00 bill in it that my father had just given him for a couple days helping us make hay.A lot of money back then.

My Mom is good at putting things in a safe place. Problem is they are so safe that even she can't find them. Hope I never get like that but I can see it starting.

Last week I was working on my combine putting a pickup attachment on it. I needed to extend the drive shaft which was standard 1" keyed shaft. I had a piece of shaft laying around and knew I had a couple in my 5 gal. "stuff" bucket. As usual I dumped the bucket out to look for the coupler. I looked EVERYWHERE for that thing. I knew it was there, it's been there for 15 years. Finally gave up and went to town and bought a weldable gear hub to make one. Soon as I was done I walked into the shed and there it was, just a bit under the welder, not 2' from the "stuff" pail. lol. Guess I still have a 1" coupler for when I need it.

I've always been that way, it has nothing to do with age. lol. If I want to find something again I have to just leave it where it is, I most always can find it. If I move it it's gone til I no longer need it. I have more trouble with my wife putting things where I'll find them. The worst thing is the things I need on the road, wallet, phone ect. She will move them so I don't forget them, then when I don't see them where I left them I think they are in the truck and leave without them. We've had some SERIOUS discussions about that about the time I'm 100 miles from home and realize I don't have my wallet.

I have Sciatica in my left side. My chiropractor's first advice was to carry Billfold in right rear pocket. Took me about two weeks to quit panicking every time I got out of my vehicle and finding my billfold missing from left rear pocket.

Those are the same feelings I had last week. 'Cept mine was when I went to grain the cows and the stock tank was running full tilt. I had turned it on exactly 24 hours earlier when I grained them. We've got really good water volume at the hydrants - I ran 3/4 inch line. That equates to an extra $184 on your water bill. Oh wait, I left the hog water on for 7 hours a couple days before that. I guess those TWO things add up to the extra. Luckily I never do something like that when I am filling my field sprayer.

I now have a clothes pin clipped to every hydrant. When I turn it on I put the clothes pin on my shirt sleeve. I can't wait to turn off the water and get that thing off my arm.

Now, why is there a clothes pin on my sleeve???

My wife has been doing that for over 50 years; hasn't seemed to get any worse so I don't worry about it.

I did the same thing earlier this year. My F150 had two hidey-holes: the big box in the center console and a smaller one down below. Came out of the bank and hid $4,000 in the smaller one. About four months later I was looking for something else and found the cash. I sat there for five minutes laughing at myself. CRAFT. Not only can't remember where I hide stuff, I can't remember that I hid it. I'm still looking for my wrist watch; stuck it somewhere over a year ago.

Aw it's easy to find the misplaced item; just go buy another one, go to put it up on the shelf, and there the old one'll be.

My dad would misplace things and ask where I put them (i hadn't had them). One day he was getting quite concerned because he couldn't find his glasses. He had looked every where for them. They were on the top of his head the whole time.

I have trouble with the hereafter. I get into a room and cannot remember what I was here after.

Ever walk around looking for a certain wrench??? Find you holding it in your hand the whole time!!!!!!

JD, my friend and I bob tailed a Peterbilt into Idaho Falls one night a few years ago and parked at a restaurant. When we went back to the truck the starter solenoid acted up so I was down there on the starter testing the nut for the big cable with a 9/16 wrench. When I finished I put it in my back pocket. I was so tired I forgot it was there, or that I'd even had it in my hand a few minutes ago. When I needed it again I searched the toolboxes for that wrench while grumbling about the other guys on the crew not putting wrenches back. Later, in the motel room I found it in my back pocket. My friend still hasn't let me forget that night. Jim
