7700 on a 4row narrow

Has anyone run a 7700 john deere on a 4 row narrow corn head, my measurements show it should work, but it will be close? First year on 30" rows from 36". It has 23.1-26 with wheels set in the narrow position. Thanks for any information.

It will not work the cylinder is 55 inches wide. each tire 23.1 inches, So we are at 101.2 inches if the cylinder was against the tires. So you add in another 10 inches on each side your at 120.1 inches. So you tires will be right against the other row IF you drove perfectly while planting.

You will knock ears off of the next row with the tires. IF there is ANY mud at all you will push the next row over.

Another issue is the JD 7700 will not be even near full enough to do a very good job shelling.

I would get a six row head and shell all six. You will knock off far fewer ears than you would trying to use a 4 row narrow header.

JD is right. It wont work. I remember years ago a guy had a 6600 SH that broke down, dealer loaned him a 7700 to use while his got fixed. He put the 4 row on and had to work uphill and it still knocked corn over, but not as bad. This was in steep hills too.
