There is a story that English composer Gustav Holst ( Famous for 'The Planets ' Suite ) was told off by an irate farmer for practicing his trombone in one of his fields because he said the noise was scaring his sheep causing them to lamb too early!

I have no musical ability whatever, so I don't think I'll try playing a trombone to summon my cows. However, for many years I've had a habit of "calling" the cows to come eat in the morning. I just yell, "Hey girls. Let's eat. Come on pretty babies".

I guess they like the flattery because they come running when I call them.

I think I heard somewhere that the rancher had the cows already trained to come to him to eat range cubes. Cows trained to come eat range cubes will follow you anywhere! Range cubes=cattle cocaine!

A farmer here in The UK imported some Montbéliarde dairy cows from France. The first time he called them in for milking he could not get them to come. He even tried driving them to the milking parlour but they were too nervous.(After all, they were in a completely new environment ) Then it dawned on him. They are FRENCH cows. Fortunately he remembered a little French from his schooldays and after hollering "Viens ici!" a couple of times, they all came a running!

Ah, music to sooth the savage beast.

He should have got out of that lawn chair and started dishing out the cubes at about 3:00 in the video- he's lucky some of those ol' gals didn't come over an remind him of what the program is supposed to be.

Very common for dairy farmers to have a radio going during milking- or 24/7, as one guy does- he said since he stopped turning the radio off and on, it lasts forever.

Fellow I know milked a few days for a neighbor. Called the cows and they wouldn't come in, then it dawned on him the daughters did the milking. Called the cows in a "girly" voice and they perked up their ears and came trotting in.

Around my area we called cows for milking( so boss ever
heard that ?by the way boss is latin for cow).had a hay
buyer who was worried that the cows were getting out they
were from new york city just like green acres anyways told
them to call the cows in for feed they didnt know how so i
did it.imagine my surprise they all came running bull calves
and cows .well i am trying to keep a straight face like thats
normal and i still wonder what was said on that first phone
