OT Sandburs!!!

It's that time of year again, the sandburs are getting ready to go to seed in my yard. Is there anything that will give a quick kill on them?? In the past, I have crawled around the yard with a bucket and pulled them out by the roots to get rid of them. I just can't do it this year, too much overtime, too many things to get done in the little time I have off, not to mention how much my back and hands hurt from doing this. Yes, Roundup will kill them in a couple of weeks, but by then they will have gone to seed. I want something that will kill them in a couple of days. I am willing to go around the yard one time and spot spray each individual plant to kill them. Is there any product that will kill them quick?? I have read about flame cultivation, I'm thinking about taking the little propane torch and scorching the plants where they come out of the ground to see if that will kill them. Any suggestions?? Chris

Chris flame burning them will kill them if you have the time to do it.

There are chemicals that will control them Post emerge.

DSMA is a common one:
Disodium methyl arsonate (DSMA) is an arsenic-based herbicide.

Trade names include Metharsinat, Arrhenal, Disomear, Metharsan, Stenosine, Tonarsan, Tonarsin, Arsinyl, Arsynal, and Diarsen

I have personally used Arsynal in the past and had fairly good results with it.

I have one small field that gets sand burs. I seek them out before they go to seed. They always seem to have a redish stem. don't want the beagles getting in them.
