Need a highcrop tractor!

Have been known to cut a length of an old innertube. Slide over tractor drawbar ahead of hole(s) and secure with a hose clamp. Makes a funnel shape shield over hitch and drawpin.

Didn't bother too much on the White, but I had to finish up one field with the 1850. I had quite a time with that one. The hay kept catching on the sway blocks. If I'd had to bale another day with it I would have taken them off.
My 4040 Deere used to give me a lot of trouble catching right in the baler hitch itself. I took a piece of belt and bolted it to the hole right ahead of the draw pin in the drawbar. Worked like a mudflap, slid up over the hay and kept it going under the hitch.

I had to go to Hofferberts this morning. Things look a little rough in places over there from standing water.

I made my shield out of leftover conveyor pan material. Two hinges on the front bolted to the crosspiece under drawbar on JD tractors. Chain slipped over drawbar to hold it up. Belting is a good idea too. Anything simple and quick to hang underneath to provide a smooth surface. Any hitch pin can catch hay.

Around my area you can tell the wet areas from the (dry?) or better drained. The BTO in the neighborhood you can tell where he ran down the headlands with his big four wheeler in corn. Was a year for light tractors.

This field I'm baling is a new seeding. I worked at it, trying to get it as smooth as possible. Wasted effort now. I have wheel tracks from mowing Wed night. The old field wasn't near as bad.
