OT plans for today

I spent most of the day yesterday moving big bales and mowing weeds. We got all the big bales sold from the really late first cutting. They went for $50 for the grass and $60 for the alfalfa, I am pleased with that. Hooked the mower up to the 6610 and mowed the weeds around the fields.

I am planning to finish splitting wood and hope to get my boat cleaned up today. The boat has not been in the water yet this year. The family is gone for the weekend, so no distractions.

I'm not doing much of anything today. Sitting on the porch listening to the rerun or Prairie Home Companion on the radio is about as ambitious as I'm going to get.
I've been working Sundays since May getting corn in and hay put up. It's time to spend one day doing nothing. I went out and made an adjustment in the steering in one tractor this morning, but that's it other than chores.

If I'm feelin lazy, as I often do on Sundays, and the first wife tells me to do something, I tell her its the Sabbath and a body aint supposed to hit er to hard that day and it says so in the Bible and she better NOT go against that lol

But if Im tinkering on an old tractor etc I tell her that's NOT work its recreation. Actually I didn't get the grass mowed due to other things so Im doing it today (after Church of course) although I really don't like to mow Sundays, usually Friday.

Then we may ride the golf cart around the farm community and visit a neighbor, maybe later even consume an adult beverage such as barley soda, that's permissible in moderation lol

Life is good, we have been blessed

Ol John T and all

This noon son and I sat on the porch in the cool breeze grilling burgers and enjoying a barley pop. Life is good.

I got up and visited the wife in the hospital she back slide a little last night. Still not eating. Came home raked hay. Now heading out to bale. Then maybe back to the hospital.

Tomorrow hospital, get combine ready for wheat and more hospital.

Hard to farm when the wife is laid up. Gotta work to get paid and feel guilty not being with her.

Gonna take a ride with the SWIMBO today, Should be out cleaning the shop, but It won't go away !! I'll just do it tomorrow, yeah, right !! LOL....Jim in N.M.

If we can just get her to eating the worst will be over.

She is real sensitive to the narcotics they use and if she says she hurts or is nauseated they give more and make it worse. I had to spell it out for them today to lay off and use none narcotics if possible. It's what we did last year and it worked.

One farmer, make sure you keep your priorities in order. Wife first then farm. Don't be afraid to ask friends and neighbors for help with the farming part. They want to help.

Wood all split.

2 year old battery is bad in the boat, will have to get that tomorrow. I plan to at least wash it this afternoon.

Just in for a protein break, later a barley break with a grilled chop and some fresh garden yellow beans and peas.

Interesting, I really like to watch/listen to Dr. David Jeremiah. He has been covering a series on the Gospel of Mark. He just covered the section where Jesus and the disciples were passing through a grain field and plucking the heads and eating them....on the Sabbath. Really cool how the Pharisees were questioning Him for eating on the sabbath. He basically answered them by referring to the original Law that God gave them and they had added 30 something other laws to it (not from God but their own way of making something it was not meant to be). He reminded them that the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. I never really looked at it that way. We are basically supposed to enjoy the Sabbath without all the junk that others try to pile on or make us feel guilty. It really is a day of rest if we do something we enjoy. I just thought that was an interesting commentary on that subject. I've never understood the Sunday night service mindset that most churches seem to have. It sort of takes the fun out of the afternoon/evening to relax and enjoy the day. Seems it is a modern day phenomenon, this evening services idea. From Gary who goes to church (Baptist) but has to work every other Sunday or no one in the county would have fresh drinking water. Now I don't feel so guilty about working on Sunday as it is really a necessary function.

Really great Sunday. Went to church, then sat down and read the Detroit paper cover to cover. Man there's a lot of people that have a lot of money that don't live as good as I do. Watered the wife's flowers, sat on the deck and read a book until it was time for an adult beverage, and called it a day. Lots to do tomorrow!

Almost the same here. Went to church, brought dinner home from town. Watched Lonesome Dove (second one) on TV fell asleep. Got out about 5. Sprayed some beans with the golf cart. (where I had turned and not got sprayer turned on soon enough) Picked a few ears of sweet corn. Ate them watched Longmire on TV. must have sleep some more. Just woke up. Pretty lazy day. Tomorrow will be different over 20 acres of hay to rake and bale. But should be a easy day also. Both tractors have AC. :) Vic

today was a pretty easy day for me, i started playing with the oliver. someone had bottomed out under the brake pedals and bent the running board and brackets all to heck, im gonna clean them up and bang on them till they are straight again, there is a support bracket missing, so im gonna take the other side apart and make a similar one for the right side. while i have it all apart im gonna give her a bath. i took a piece of rope an fitted it around the pulleys and i figure it is a 40" x1/2 v belt.
