whats the best way to cook just picked purple hull peas...thanks for input.. dewy

we dry them out and put them in a jar in the freezer. we get them out and cook them in water with a piece of meat just like white beans pretty doggone good stuff

Cook them fresh with a little bacon drippings or chunk of seasoned pork with a little salt and sugar to taste. Yum Yum! You can freeze them as soon as you shell them. Just put 'em in a freezer bag and throw them into the freezer. Do not wash until you get ready to cook them, and cook the same as fresh ones.

Put in a crockpot with some smoked turkey, tastes like ham without the red meat stigma.

Mine will be coming in next week

along with Carolina classic peas and some little brown ones that I dunno what they are but damm good.... All you do is snap'em they cook up and have brown gravy yum yum...
