Seed hybrid costs/performance

3rd year in a row, my cheapest priced corn is tolerating the lack of july moisture, the wet spring soil better than the $100 more priced corn. The best this year is a "discontinued" hybrid RR, that was less per unit than most conventional.

Last year we got flooded about 5 times during the growing season. I was pleasantly surprised to harvest a decent average corn crop. On one of the higher drier fields I had the last of an older, very reliable hybrid, and the latest. Quite a difference in seed cost. Old reliable topped out at 155 bu. The new stuff was about 205 bu.
