Forecast for gas prices

Watched the nightly business report last night. Forecast for gas prices is that they should start to decline in about 3 weeks - if somebody doesn't start another war.

We'll wait and see.

Mine has declined for the past 3 weeks, didn't jump over the 4th. Our high was $3.99 a month or so ago, now $3.47

$3.99 over 4th of July holiday. Dropped to $3.67 last week. Back to $3.89 this morning. I'm about 25 miles southeast of Louisville Ky. National Street Rod Assn. in town starting in a few days. I expect prices to jump to over $4 for that. You can go 50 miles in any direction and find gas $.50 a gallon cheaper. Irony is, much of THAT cheap gas comes through distributor in Louisville.

I saw this morning that oil was below $100 for the first time in a while. Wish I had a crystal ball. I need to call Enterprise and reserve something to drive on the 127 yard sale. I was going to take a pickup last year but the price of gas started going up. I'm leaning real hard toward a pickup this time instead of a mini van or small SUV.

Our prices were running right around $3.77. The news media predicted it would go down, but instead it went up, to about $3.89.

I wish the media would just ignore it and keep their mouths shut.

Gas been declining in price for a month in deep So IN. Went from 3.99 to 3.34 this morning. Highly unusual in the very peak of vacation season.

Randy, if you find a good crystal ball, could you buy two. I think my ball cracked. Everything I predict lately seems not to work out so good.
Everything from weather to the pices for commodities has been running against me.

$3.37 at Coastco & Sam's last week; wife just came back from Costco where gas is now $3.35.

You're not alone in that one. I can't even figure out from one week to the next what condition the buyers want fat cattle to be in.

Bottom line is the federal, state and local taxes are all higher than the supplier's profit. New taxes in store for cars that get too good mpg like hybrids and electrics. No winning is there? Town near us adds 8¢ per gallon extra on diesel fuel to help pay for a $3 million swimming pool.

Just filled up at Sam's here in Stafford, TX (SW Houston) at $3.29, most other places are $3.39-$3.45, and it is refined here. I miss George Bush and Dick .

In the Dallas area, diesel has dropped .14 in the last 10 days.

Heard weeks earlier there was supposed to be a glut and prices would drop.

Not holding my breath.

3.199 in Wakefield, VA at 5:35 P.M. today and crude closed lower yesterday again. Wife and I are headed out of town for the weekend and we'll see what it is in mid-west VA.

We probably won't have low prices for long. Congress just passed a stop gap measure to get the highway trust fund solvent through this election year. I suspect they'll raise the federal gas tax next year.

Much higher. Last time I looked into the numbers a couple years ago, it was 8 cents per gallon profit for Exxon and 46 cents per gallon to taxes.

Then they have the nerve to call oil company execs up before congress to brow beat them every few years. Should be the other way around.

Gas prices are coming down because oil is coming down.

Back a month or two ago the market got a scare because of ISIS a militant group in Iraq. It was feared that oil supplies may be cut off.
The tensions have eased so oil prices have been falling the past month and are around $100 right now.

Friend just bought a new Dodge diesel that gets 22 mpg, empty or with a light to medium load, he has not pulled much with it yet but hauled his utility tractor and 16' cow trailer. This is a 4 door heavy duty truck with cloth seats and vinyl floor mats, I did not know you could get one that way without all the bells and whistles.

Last I saw a gas pump price (about a week ago - I don't get off the farm much anymore), it was at 3.799. That's for far western NY. It has come down about 10 cents from what it seemed to be pretty steady at for months 3.89. Price forecast is even less reliable than the weather forecast, and that's significantly wrong here about 60% of the time.

Back when I traveled some, PA was usually 10-15 cents cheaper, and Ohio was 20-25 cents less than here. We're blessed with a state government that can spend every penny available to get those who can afford it, to move elsewhere.

Was $3.21 when I went to work this morning, $3.65 on the way home.
County fair started in town at 2 p.m. today.
