Growing a bird feeder

Just a fact of life.
You grow fruit trees

and the birds will get part of the crop.

Not to fret because even after throwing 50% of the crop on the ground from bird damage; over ripe from not picking often enough; there is still plenty to go around.

Think I might break out he canning jars and put up a couple bottles of preserves as I am pretty tired of eating them fresh. I get about this amount every weekend off 3 very small trees.

Your birds are more polite than mine. My varmints will peck a bite out of one and go to the next. If I want to beat the birds to mine I have to eat them before they're fully ripe. I can't blame the birds though, fresh off the tree they are delicious. TDF

Reminds me, I plant black oiler sunflowers in the garden for the birds. Finches pick the heads clean before they're fully ripe.

There is plenty to go around; way more than we can eat. Heck one of the trees has a bird nest in it and it does not bother me.

The trees are very easy to grow if you have the climate for them so anyone that wants figs has their own tree; so giving away to neighbors usually is not worth the effort.

Back when I had peach trees, bird would peck on one then move to the next.

Bought a couple of plastic snakes from the dime store and hung them in the trees. Cheap and very, very effective.
