Hi all, well, I got all of my bales picked up last night, and then I got a wild hair and decided to try to sell them on CL. I said simpily that it is wild meadow grass, nothing special, not a lot of weeds, etc.

Within an hour a lady that lives kind of close by replied and said that she would be interested in them, but now I am stuck, what are they worth?

I think that, due to the fact that they are probably about half a normal bale, and aren't NICE bales, $2.50 per bale is probably about right isn't it?? Please let me know what you think... I am sure that it will depend a lot by area, I am in North ID... Thanks! Bryce

all you have to do is weigh a couple and charge 4-5 cents a lbs. Around here ditch hay has been selling for 4 cents a lbs. Middle of manitoba

depends one where you live - here a 50lb bale sells for 5.00 first cutting, 6.00 second.

So - that's more like .10 pound.

sorry - just reread your post - you called it "ditch hay".

Guess we'd call it mulch hay here - and yes, that'd be about the same price - usually get about 2.00 a bale for that.

200/ tonne would be a decent starting price for common stuff... so if you have 30# bales... that's about 2.85 a bale or so. As far as I'm concerned that's more than cheap enough.

Looks like grass hay is selling for $140-180 a ton around here, so weigh a few to get an average and go from there. Make sure you tell the buyers that you made them small on purpose so women can handle them easier...then you should be able to double your price :)

Well, I called the local Co-op ( they sell little bales as well ). The lady said that she didn't know the weight, but knew for sure that they were about a 3rd the size of a normal rectangular bale. $4.95 a piece!!

Sooo, I figure if they can sell them for that much, I would THINK that I can get $3.00 for mine.. They aren't that pretty, but they are still hay! Thanks for the info, that is good to know! Bryce

I just sold 135 sm squares of grass mostly crested wheat for $5.00 delivered. Not to bad payday. Our swather JD 800 and the JD 224T pulled with my JD 44 A workes good.
