Everything looks good

Words that are good to hear as the doctor is pulling a camera out of your back side. Then he says: everything feels good also. See you next year. Don't really like that doctor visit, but it beats the what may happen if nothing is checked. I'll bet I am not the only one who has that checked. My uncle had prostrate cancer so it may be in the family, don' want to take any chances. Stan

Glad your test came back great! My Dad had prostate cancer at the age of 42! He is a survivor into his mid 70s now! My Dr first did the thumb up there to check mine, plus did the PSA test at the same time. He now just does the PSA test to compare from previous years. Says he does not trust the first PSA number without also doing the invasive test!

37Chief,
The last time a Dr put a camera up my tube, he posted it on U tube. I felt SOOOOOOOOOO violated.

Our little town has a free prostate check up every fall. I never miss it, where else can you get someone to stick their finger up you a$$ for nothing?

At least you are old :) I am three weeks out of prostate surgery, hopefully only one week and I will be back on the tractor. Sucks to be laid up over summer, but when you are only 56 and they say it is aggressive, you get it out of there if you can. I will find out Monday if they got it all...fingers crossed.

Eldon (WA)- Good Luck to you and pray for you. I'm 54 and last year had my colon removed due to colon cancer. I go Friday for a CT scan to see if it has progressed

I'll be thinking of you.

I get a physical every year. I'll be 67 this fall. Don't need a colonoscopy until I'm 70. Wife goes in September for hers.

When I was in the Army and going through an exam, the sawbones had me drop my boxers, bend over and he stuck a finger where no one had ever stuck a finger before and never has again. There has to be something wrong with a guy that does that to another guy. I think that there's something more than being a doctor going on there, and I don't care if its ok in 2014, I still don't want nothing to do with it.

Well that was my feeling about it too...but my wife convinced me I needed a physical (after 29 years)...and I was lucky the doc I went to did a DRE. If I would have waited another year I would probably not have much time left. Once it spreads to the lymph nodes or bones that is pretty much it. As it stands now, I may still need 8 weeks of radiation treatments. All in all, the finger was no big deal compared to what followed...I suggest every guy over the age of 45 to google prostate cancer and get informed. It is the second leading killer in men after skin cancers....

Its funny I was just sitting here going through todays mail and low and behold hears a card from the Doctor to remind me that its time for my follow up to get this very thing done again. I think theses Doctors have us all on a list to get this done in a nice orderly manner. Glad to hear everything was good and I hope mine is to. Oh the things you got to go through as you get older. I was reading not so long ago that "virtual colonoscopy" is getting so good/accurate that soon all that sort of thing will no longer be necessary.

Which is FINE with me!

Colonoscopy is a cakewalk once you get the two glasses of saltwater down.....

Our old town doc many years was also a farmer, huge man, huge hands, huge fingers.... [see where this is going??]... he'd lift you right up off the floor doing one of those checks.

You're 100% right. Better a couple of hours of unpleasantness than months of sickness that could have been prevented.

As the old saying goes "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

Had one done last year at the Fargo VA. First it's a 90 mile drive. 2nd I check in and get told to have a seat in the waiting area. Haven't had anything to eat in almost 36 hours and they have a cooking show on the TV. 3rd they take me back and they got 4 beds in the prep area. Each had a sign over it. The 3 regular beds were marked Army, Air Force and Marines. The 4th had scented candles, soft lighting and romantic music playing and a sign, US Navy.

At least my doc was a woman.

(quoted from post at 04:56:18 07/10/14) The worst part of the first one I had (when I was 50) was drinking the gallon of salt water! YUCK!

They've got it down to two 16oz glasses and an enema now.
