I found it the hard way

I lost part of the reel on the haybine the other day. When I noticed it was gone,I remembered hearing a pop when something went through the rolls. I went back to where I thought I heard it and looked all over for it. I knew if I didn't find it then I'd find it in a tire. I did. Right in the face of a loaded 18.4R38 yesterday when I was baling. It went all the way in and got the tube. Times like that,I hate being right.

I have found old metal fence posts in a field like that. Fortunately it was a front tire that found it and not a back tire.

Randy, sorry to hear about your tire trouble, but just think, it could have gotten sucked up into the baler & how much damage that would have caused.

:>)

Found a board with a big spike in it the same way once. Parked it with the board on top and had a tire shop come out to pump the fluid out and fix the tube and tire.

Why couldn't it be ANY other tire? I have gotten rid of the liquid in the tires on all tractors but one. Unfortunately that one has four 20.8x42 with beet juice in them. I needed a lot of weight in a hurry when I got it, and this stuff wasn't cheap either!

I know feeling. Do you remember when I spun the rim inside the tires on that 6105 white? You were one of the guys that replied to my post, anyway long story short, the next spring I had all four tires replaced (fwa) sent my brother out to plow down a small hay field. About a half hour later I see the tractor stopped in the lane, one front tire completely flat. He picked up a broken off rake tooth. Tires were only on the tractor maybe a month.

Need something to mess up some of the best haying weather that we have had in a while......plus on a holiday weekend.....always when breakdowns happen

When you think about it the chances of it ending up in the rear tire are fairly slim. First the tire had to be in that perfect spot and then the tines had to be pointing up, or we're flipped up by the tire. And it's on a holiday weekend to boot. It looks to me like the tire is worth fixing.

Ya,by some stroke of luck,I had enough brain cells to put the other wiring harness and monitor on the 1850 last month after I took the planter monitor off. All I had to do was switch tractors and keep going.
I'll call the tire guy in the morning. He hasn't been here since mid May. I don't know if he'll remember where to find me after all that time or not.

For anybody else, the chances were slim. For me,the odds that it WOULDN'T were about 500,000 to 1.

And,,,,,, you were riding along on the tractor, thinking,,,,I dont want to get a camper and travel,I like farming,,,,,then,,,,,you caught that in the tire?

Boy!' that is shore strong usage of verbs,
Thar were a part time preacher on the farm next to ours. If something happened he wood use colorful language, he might say, Vell!' i'll be a son-of-a-biscuit-eater.

Well at least you don't have to worry about picking it up in something else, like the forage chopper.

Had a good customer that had an older chopper without any kind of metal alert on it. I helped him replace all the knives and shear bar. HE spent about $1000 in parts alone. HE made it one round in the first hay field and found a chunk of a metal gate. The second set went in easier as the bolts where still shiny.

Murphy hasn't hit this place for quite awhile, but nothing much goes on here anyway. The family van, that's another story lately. You might have read my post from a couple of days ago about the deer and the headlight and the mower throwing a rock that went through a side window a couple of days later. Since then we've had three people pull out in front of my pickup. All three were in town and going slow but still!!!! Hope the rest of haying goes better. Jim

Lost a gathering wheel this morning.

Was hoping beyond hope that it didn't end up in the bale, as it would really raise he!! with the bale processor this winter.

Found it though. :D

No,I don't know when the last time was that I thought I wanted to keep this crap up. I believe I was thinking more about making motel reservations in Alabama and Tennessee for the 127 Yard Sale next month so I could get the heck out of here.

I usually find antlers that way.
Couple years ago i had a neighbor graze the regrowth on one of my unfenced hay fields,..he put a smooth wire around it to keep the cows in.
When the guy removed his cows the A-hole just pulled the stakes out and left the wire lay.
I found it the next summer....with the haybine!
Amazing how fast a guy can reel in a 1/4 mile of wire before one notices.

I found part of my baler wagon hitch once while mowing second cut. I lose a tine from my Tedder about every other year and I worry about getting one into my baler so I got the idea of painting them a high visibility color instead of black like they come. Most of them are white, but a few older ones are hot pink, whatever I happen to have around at the time.

It may not feel like it right now, but you were lucky.
Only time I find parts like that they destroy the sidewall and soak everything in calcium at the farthest end of the field where I don't get cell service.

He said it helpa da spirit.
Did I detect a verb in the place of an adjective or wus a noun substituted in the conjunctive structure of the sentence U used?

My nowledge of the sweedish language is limited, the only vord I no is Stockholm.

I rolled a bunch up on a New Idea CutDitioner one time. Took a while to get that out.

We had a neighbor who farmed with horses. I remember one Sunday he had raked a field with a dump rake. Dad went down there and baled it with an old big New Holland 77 baler. He picked up a dump rake tine with it and ran it in to the plunger. That wasn't a pleasant day around here.

By the looks of the weather you're gonna have a rainy day to fix it coming up. Last one I had like that was whiskey bottle that did it, and I didn't even get to drink the whiskey.

Ah shoot, you can probably find another tire on the 127 yard sale!
I can't tell you how many times stuff like that happened around
here when we were actually farming. Too many though!
Are you going to weld the part back on now that you found it?

Ive got one that broke like that but didn't find the piece that broke so I'm going to get a piece of pipe that will fit into the old time bar drill holes thru the new pipe and old pipe and Bolt it together then make a tracing of the piece the roller fits into and make one and weld it on

don't feel like the lone ranger, around here senior murphy sits there watching us, waiting for one of us to drop something and have to pick it up.

Ya,I just called Brain to come out and fix it. I told him I needed the part so I could weld it back on. He laughed and said he'd never heard that one before.
