OT Replanting and ground not planted

This has been a messed up year for crops. This year here in SW Ohio there seams to be more corn planted than ever some is in tassel some is a foot tall. Some looks plum pittafull and very little looks good and a lot had to be replanted because of wet weather. Now soybeans have had a very hard time around hear, There are guys that replanted fields 4 times to get a decent stand and I don't think there is a good lookin field any ware that I have seen. Hear it is July 5th and there are lots of guys trying to get fields planted for the first time let alone the fields that need replanted.

There is a lot of ground around that will not get planted at all this year. I have 10 acres that wont be planted this year because its so wet, The crop insurance adjuster came out Thursday to look at it and verify conditions and kinda ------ me off with the comment of is this ground wet or are you out of money because of the replant. I pulled out some pictures of the beans from last year and the ASCS crop report and asked him what do you think! If I don't plant it that's money out of my pocket come this fall. This is the first time I for me to put a claim in for ground that cant be planted because it has been so wet. It been raining every day or every other day just enough to screw things up, Hay work is way behind and hard to get in without getting wet. A couple of the bigger guys with wheat this year are using a stripper head to get there wheat in before it spoils in the head and leaving the straw standing till they get weather to bail it. This has just been a messed up year to say the least for us farmers. Well I guess there is allways next year. Bandit

Replanted 10 acres of drown outs yesterday. I've got corn not quite ankle high and waist high, I planted a field of beans before 80% of my corn got planted! I planted a field of corn before I got the oats planted....

Nutty year.

Your post prompted me to take a short cycle ride for a couple pictures. "Knee high by the 4th of July"- I just took these, one field across the road from the other. However there's an uglier soybean field behind our place. Either the planter ran out of seed or didn't engage, left about a 150' wide strip. Also needs another round of Roundup. This is Van Wert county Ohio.
