Duetz fuel probls

tractor guy I have a duetz D6006 and when I make 2or3 passes bush hogging it starts to put out alot of black smoke like its over flowing with fuel I took the pump apart a few weeks ago and the spring a float were laying to the side I put it back they its supposed to be...Could I need a new fuel pump
 

You would be more likely to get help if you tell what it has for a pump since the Deutz is not common. I have experienced heavy black smoke and blubbering due to fuel starvation. The fuel line was 90% blocked.

That's exactly how mine was. It would idle or run at low RPMs all day.

I checked fuel flow to pump until I found the point where it wasn't getting through, then cleaned all the crud out.
 
I helped a guy take a birds nest out of the air intake. It was up against the aspirator. This was before the filters.

It's been a while but as I remember it would pull a little and then put up the blackest smoke I've seen. I think that was a 1370 case.
