Does the ventura in a marvel tsx765 carburator fit tight or is it suppose to be a little sloppy.The bottom half of the carburator does not have a flange for the venturato sit on.It will slide up and down inside the carb.Thanks

hould not be free to move. Never seen one without the machined ridge to sit on. Multiple sizes of venturi for the many versions of M/S carbs. Sure you have correct one for your carb?
 
Yes ventura is correct.The older 8n-2n-9n carbs all have a seating ring on the carb bottom half.This carb is off a 601 workmaster.Cant get the carb to stop flooding.has a spitting miss back thru the exhaust that wont adjust out.
 
Sounds like you have 2 carb problems since the ventura would not cause flooding but a bad float or sticking float would. As for the ventura it sounds like it is bad also and maybe even missing part of it or bent
 
Your spitting miss sounds more like a valve not seating. Either out of adjustment or worn/leaking face.
 
Do you know any one that may have a bottom section for a 765.Float doesnt appear to be sticking,no fuel leaking from carb.could it be something else that could be causing the prgblem.Changed coil,installed new points,checked compression.Rebuilt the carb about 2 years ago, ran fine until recently.Cant find anything wrong with the carb except for the loose ventura.
 
As I said good chance the ventura is bad they do over time sometimes get worn and go bad. As far as the bottom part of the carb where the ventura sits the lip is sits in is very small so maybe there and your just not seeing it or the ventura has broken and that part of it is sticking in the carb bottom section
