Bushhog has it right! Hard work for therapy is your number one priority. It takes a lot of work to some capabilities, but it's worth it.

Billy,
Praying for a speedy recovery for You. just take it slow and be mindful that it may just take a little time yet. Call on the Lord ask Him What is it you are suppose to learn out of this situation! My wife says it all time and it has taken yrs for me to develop an attitude to ask, even though I really didn't want to learn anything Now!
I had a stroke 1 time TIA (Stroke) 4 yrs ago. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! I was really Blessed, My Wife got me to the Hospital in short order....they got Me that clot busting Shot and all came back to level an hour later, Yours may yet still Do what the Dr. says a behave yourself.
Take Care

John A.

Glad you are still with us, keep your spirits up as much as possible and do what the docs say and we will all look forward to hearing about your progress . Best of luck to you.

Prayers sent from south-central Texas. I hope this isn't the result of another Temple VA screw up. Best wishes.

Sorry to hear that Billy. Prayers for you and your family. Hope that recovery is complete. Had a TIA almost 4 years ago. Had one every day for 3 weeks, then all at once they were gone. Took awhile but no effects now cept it made me lazy.

I had one when I was 27. Yes, some things will be permanently changed in your life. You will feel very frustrated when the word you were going to say just seem to disappear in our mind. You will get impatient when you can't do things like you used to. I looked at it this way: I was so glad it wasn't my siblings - they had young children that would worry about them. I was so glad it wasn't my parents as I knew they would have a tough time coping with it at their advanced age. I felt lucky that it was me.

You are alive and able to function like a human. Each day will get better. Treat it like a fascination about how the brain works. Why can't I see dice anymore and know how many dots there are without counting? What about dominoes - they work the same way (I spend all my time counting dots as the patterns don't mean anything anymore). And why can't I tell the difference between a G and a J anymore when spelling outloud? What a mysterious organ.

Prayers sent for you.

Sorry to hear that, Billy. Just thought of an old song, "Only the Strong Survive", Strength and determination will help us pull through tough times. Not to mention a lot of prayer. I will be remembering you in prayer and hoping for the best recovery possible.

Billy, as others have said hard work can bring function back. Everyone else remember FAST! Face drooping, Arm weak, Speech slurred, Time to call 911, Lost time means lost brain cells. Upon noticing these signs get the person help FAST, and they may not have serious damage. Pass it on.

Sorry to hear that. Get busy with the rehab. Very good chance you can regain use of the right side. Your brain can create new pathways to control that side if it is forced to do so. You can do it, Billy. Will be praying for you.

We are all sorry to hear this and are pulling for you and your in our prayers at this time of need. The best thing I can say is to keep a positive outlook, And as a farmer you will Improvise, Adapt and you will Overcome this stroke. Bandit

Billy, so sorry to hear this. It"s very important to get intensive physical therapy soon after a stroke. They should be doing passive range of motion to affected limbs to maintain flexibility. Some brain cells may be only temporarily damaged, not killed, and may resume functioning. In some cases, the brain can reorganize it"s own functioning. Sometimes, a region of the brain "takes over" for a region damaged by a stroke. Make sure they provide this physical therapy soon, for as long as it takes. I will be praying for your full recovery. Richard

It has been 2 years 2 months 2 days since I had mine. None of the FAST applied to me. I was 94 percent blocked on my left, which affected my right side. I considered myself healthy before my stroke, 5ft10, 150 lbs, plenty of exercise. I was a Rural mail carrier.
I pray you recover better than I have.
Also, get ready to battle SSI to get disability. DOUG
