Ever See a BS Engine Like This?

I haven't ever seen a Briggs & Stratton Engine like this one where the carb is on the other side of the engine. They're usally next to the muffler. This engine came off of a wood chipper. It's all there and I'm parting it out if any one needs parts let me know.

In the late 80's i was given a sears riding mower the paint tires the whole thing looked like a brand new one, slight problem was a connecting rod through the block. a Tecumseh motor and it seems they were in deep doo doo with sears.
sears made a deal with b&s to make replacement motors they were strange to look at but they were reliable al

I don t ever remember seeing one like hat. However did you ever see a Brigg s Engine where the recoil was on the bottom of a vertical Engine ?
The top was molded like the other ones except the looked real weird .
I can t remember if the Points & condenser were on the bottom or if they were on top .

Wood chipper and carb tucked close to shroud? not the normal location as you noted but not really uncommon- generators, snow blowers had some variations from "Normal". Whatever is handiest for the contracting OEM will be made for the price agreed upon. Model number noted as 25nnnn meaning 25 cubic inch displacement and then come the crankshaft type, etc codes. Looks like it hadn"t been cleaned under shroud for awhile- has it been noted as overheating? Wide spaceing of carb and exhaust pipe meant ease of adjusting valves- didn"t have to pull off muffler or maybe air cleaner to get to side valve cover plate. Some engines had a vacuum/pressure fuel pump that was on the cover plate- routing of fuel lines less a problem than with the close exhaust pipe and intake/carb. RN
