806 D /TA - clutch issue

Clutch won't disengage engine from transmission in order to stop tractor and /or change gears. It just keeps going . I can shift gears if i turn off engine. This happened after pulling a steep hill with pretty heavy implement behind it. Clutch and TA was working fine just prior. If I start in nuetral, cannot shift into any gear, just grinds. I can start tractor up in gear and TA hi lo still works. Clutch pedal travel was adjusted properly it appears. Does this sound like dump valve problem?

You got clutch problem. One of a couple of things could have gone wrong. I figure you might as well split it and do a clutch job. No it is not the dump valve.

Best case the key is sheared in the fork but more than likely the thro-out bearing has went thru the clutch fingers. Other poster is right going to have to split it more than likely. Dangerous as is.

thanks guys for your comments. This happened this morning. this evening I looked at the tractor, got book out, checked clutch dump valve, brake adjustment. dump valve appeared to be out of adjustment some. Started tractor. Again it would not shift as it did this morning. So went to move tractor in to the shed ( starting in low gear). After short distance, stepped on clutch and it worked! ?? I went and used tractor this eve. to cut 10 acres of hay. clutch and TA was working as usual and was working when I pulled it back in shed? I'm with you guys that clutch must have an issue and I will sooner, rather than later, need to split the tractor. I'm going to see if it can last for another few trips to the hay field, unless you think I might do more damage by using it? Thanks

Quite possibly that the damper springs are breaking up in the clutch disk hub. Pieces can fall out and get caught between the friction surfaces to keep the clutch from releasing.

I bet you are right. I just had something similar happen on a small
kubota tractor. except on the kubota it bound up on the flywheel
and stopped the motor. Any chance of it causing damage in
there to something in bell housing that would't need replacing
anyway when I split the tractor? It could be dangerous and will
need fixing for sure.
