Weatherman called for 10 days of clear sunny skies in Central Kansas so I started putting down brome yesterday again. The little White 2-85 does a great job of handling the swather. I knew it would have the hp, but wasn't sure if it had enough weight in the rearend for the swing of the swather. Seems to work just fine.
The brome is a little short in this small field. (Although the pictures are in the shorter part of the field) We had almost no moisture from late summer last year until May of this year. Didn't get a lot of grow back. What I didn't cut last year is plenty thick and tall, though.
I am wanting around 200 small squares and 25-30 large rounds for myself, and will probably sell 40 -50 large rounds and a hundred or so small squares to some neighbors.
Of course, now they are calling for rain Friday. Go figure. Bob
