John Deere D dual exhaust manifold

Does anyone have experience with dual exhaust manifolds for styled John Deere D's. I have found them at external link parts and Detwilers and am wondering if one is better than the other, or if there are others out there. Thanks for your input!
 
I believe Rosewood Machine in Rosewood, Ohio
Ph. 937-362-3871 was the original & only manufacture for years. Give them a call. We always made a 1/2 in. plate for a spacer between the muffler ,straight pipe and the hood. It makes a "D" sound sweet, especially when plowing.
 
If your looking for more power they don't live up to the hype.
For some reason the right cylinder runs a lot cooler than the left.
But they do sound cool .
 
A bit of history about a "D" JD:

In the 1950s our threshing crew used a "D" JD to power the thresher. The tractor did not have a muffler...just a straight pipe shooting left and forward.

Some of the "bundle wagon" drivers used horses. It was fun for this kid to watch the reaction of the right-hand horse as it pulled along the left side of the D heading to the thresher. One of the hot blasts of exhaust would hit the horse in the butt and that horse was trying mightily to set a new speed record!!!

Would a split intake manifold and two barrel carburetor help a D as much as it helped the 50, 60 & 70? If the intake valves share a common runner, then it would take a lot of work to make it work, different cam, valves, and manifolds. Has anyone done it?
 
I have the Rosewood on my '49 D.....it will sound off under a load!! It is actually a little quieter at idle than my '45 with a single straight. Have no idea if it makes more hp or not, but it is a strong puller.
 
There is a "D" in Illinois that I helped build in the late 90's it is bored, stroked & duals. The orginal owner died . The tractor was sold , but it was never pulled much. The present owner called me & has decided to sell it. They are pulling 4010 & 4020's now.
