hello all,
I am wondering if anybody knows how much a 1927 (non-spoker) John Deere D weighs? I want to make sure that I am legal to haul it. I have a chevy suburban 5.3L with 3.73 rear 4x4. I have a weight distributing hitch and I think the truck will pull it I just want to see if anybody knows how much the tractor weighs and see if anybody hauls anything similar with a 1500 series suv or pick up? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

as long as you have the proper trailer your truck will pull that no problem. i am guessing the tractor to be around 5000 lbs.

I am not sure about the weight but I pulled a 27' D from Ft Cambell, KY to abit north of Springfield, MO with a 4.7 2003 Dodge 1500 & every day 16ft trailer with 7500lb axles without any problems. There are some hills along the way but nothing major.
One thing to take into account this time of year is the Heat. If its hot, say 85+ I would start the trip back with the load after sunset. Heat takes its toll on alot of thing's. With the sun down and cooler temperature you significantly lower your risk of overheating the motor, wheel bearings, tranny, and tires. With the cover of darkness I wouldn't think the law would be to concerned about the Lbs you paid for on your licsense plates.
Lets see a Picture of the old timer, being a 27' It'll be 90 years old in 3 years and I always enjoy seeing others.

I hauled a 1935 JD-D home behind my 1980 Chev heavy half ton with no problems and it has a 350 in it.
Farm Equipment Guide says it comes in at 8125lbs but that does seem a tad high since they say a B is 4100lbs

I have hauled my 27 D on a 6 ton trailer behind a 02 1500 Dodge with a 5.7, An 08 tondra with a 5.7 and a 2010 F-150 with a 5.4. you should have no problems pulling it if you load it correctly.

Your John Deere D could weigh up to 6,000 lbs. I pull a trailer with a 97 GMC with same gear ratio but has 5.7 with coolers. I haul a 7,000 tractor and have no problems. Just watch what you doing and be carefull.

thank you guys for the info and pictures. I have hauled my 1950 MI without even a whimper (I know it is much lighter) that is why I think that I may be able to handle it. Also what you guys are telling me is encouraging. I have attached some photos for your viewing pleasure.
