Is there a 38" Rim that will fit both Farmall and Deere

I have the old tractor bug bad, and wound up with both a Farmall H and a JD 50. The H has ugly but usable rims, and the tires hold air, but are cracked badly. The 50 has a couple of holes rusted in the rim, and the tires are pretty much rotted off.

I'm planning on trying to patch the JD rims, but if I do have to buy some, I would like to get a set of rims/tires that would work on either tractor. I don't really plan on doing much swapping between them, but it might get me out of the occasional bind.

Thanks,

Alan

I think the answer is yes. Someone posted a picture of a Farmall that had JD yellow rims on it.

The rims are made by Goodyear, Firestone, etc. Your Farmall H uses the single bevel rim, which is also compatible with the John Deere A, B, etc. Your John Deere 50 uses the double bevel rim, which is compatible with the Farmall 300, 350, etc.

The single bevel rims and the double bevel rims are not interchangeable.

Other than that, yes, those rims are used by several different brands of tractors. A rim from a 4020 John Deere will directly interchange with a rim from a Farmall 856, etc., etc.

So the answer is "yes, but...". It's not brand, it's age that's stopping me. Found a pair of double-bevel rims with new titan tires mounted for $825. That may be my best way out for the JD. Unfortunately, I haven't even torn into it to find out if it is salvageable, so I really need to hold off on getting tires til I get it home.

If you wallet will stand it...buy them, the tires (if good) are worth that much, AND you have made progress in at least one front. HTH

Those JD rims will fit most anything if you know how to attach them right.

I THINK the JD A,B and G rims fit the Farmall H's and M's don't they? But the 50s,60s and 70s are different if memory serves me right.

(quoted from post at 04:53:59 06/28/14) Do not know where you are but I have 1 good JD rim off a 60 I would sell. E-mail is open

I'm in the Dallas, TX, area. I need to get it home first. Check cleared yesterday, so I can pick it up next week or in 3 weeks. I want to see if the 50 is salvageable before I spend much time and money on it. Been sitting for 25 years or so, "running when parked".

At least it has a bucket over the exhaust, but that many winters can leave some condensation. This is the 3rd tractor I have pulled out of a fence row, but by far the one that was there the longest.
