rrlund - One More Baler Question

Hate to keep bothering you, but I was wondering if you run at full pto rpm or do you idle it back a little? Seems at full pto rpm I get loose brome hay inside the belts. Just curious if it makes any difference. Thanks again for all the help. Bob

I've always run it right up at 540. I don't know why it would matter if it ran slower as long as it's doing the job.

I run my JD rd baler at 450 pto rpm's with my 120 pto hp tractor. It makes a tight bale, helps to keep hay from building up between the belts and "saves on fuel"

As far as fuel savings,my White runs 540 at 1700 engine rpms vs 1000 PTO at 2200 engine rpms,so I don't think I could save much more by running it slower.

My 4255 is running 1800 engine rpm's to attain 450 pto rpm's
