Another tedder question

I have a Pequea4 star TT4000, and it easily does two windrows or swaths at a time. Look for a hydraulic folding one- they're a big timesaver and seem to be better built, but kind of pricey. I can cover about ten acres an hour with mine- keep the rpm's around 1500 and you can move 6-10 mph easily with a decent one.

Don,
I have a Claas right now, and its a good tedder. The thing I don't like is that it takes about 2500 psi to lift it, even though you can get off and pick it up with one hand. I see in the literature that a Pequea only takes 1000 psi. I could use some of my older tractors again. Does that sound right?

I have an old Kuhn 4 basket. It will do 2 windrows from the moco but not from sickle swaths. It won't even hit those the way I have it set. The 4 basket with 4 wheels is better on uneven or rocky ground. I rarely break any teeth because it rides up over them.

Couldn't tell you- but it's been on about everything around here from Ih to JD, and an AC. Tough buggy and does a great job.

bob,..if you didn't get your answer yet,..a tedder will fluff up the hay and spread it out so it dries quicker

This may depend a bit on what model you have. I've got the 6 star Pequea in Deere colors. Pressure is not a real big factor but it works a LOT better with big flow from the newer tractors. The old ones with 5 gpm flow don't work it very well. Granted this one lifts and folds using 4 cylinders at once... so it does take some flow. The problem is that it wants to lift before it folds... and that leaves the wings tipped forward and they don't quite make it to the cradle...
