Will be traveling up to Spencer, IA next week. Will have the afternoon free and was curious if anyone could recommend any places to visit while in the area.
 
Well if I were you I'd go to west bend Iowa which isn't to far and go see the grotto a big place a priest made of rocks, its really a nice place to see.
 
I second west bend. Also Wall Lake has the Andy Williams birthplace and a nice salvage yard with lots of tractors. Go west to Sioux Falls and there is plenty there or south to Sioux City. Le Mars is the ice cream capitol of the world also.
 
You could go to the library, where the story Dewey The Library Cat originated. Also a Case man has a shop just west of Milford on the county road, Lambert Farm Service. Of course Lake Okiboji, Arnolds Park Amusement Center. Also a huge flea market on Hwy 86 on weekends. Small Casino at Emmetsburg. Abby Gardener Cabin, Site of the Spirit Lake Indian massacure at Spirit Lake. Most aren't Spencer but close. Have a great time. gobble
 
You could always stop at Robert's Carb Repair and say Hi to Laurie, and see if they would show you around.

How is it holding up? Was there twice in my life, first time too small to remember, second time I was pretty small too but it was interesting. That was a while ago.

We stopped there 8-10 years ago, on the way to Amana Colonies. Fantastic job putting that together.
 
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I thought of taking my fishing poles and a change of clothes, then hitting up a lake after my interview up there.
