RM660 blades

I ordered new blades for my woods RM660. I noticed some places selling the blades say the blade is 24 5/16 and some say they are 24 11/16. My blades are the smaller, the ends rounded off, dull, and mower was leaving a small strip of grass between blades.

I will never weld blades on a push mower or riding mower. However, where I mow there are no people around and the woods deck is bullet proof, well perhaps a 22 bullet. I needed to mow a yard today, my yard, so I got the mig out and welded up the ends another 3/16 on each end, ground down the welds, balanced the blades, and they worked good as new. BTW, the world didn't come to an end. No welds broke, everything held. No one went to the hospital, which would have been me. I welded just a little at a time, let it cool while I welded on the other end.

Now tell me, just how dangerous is welding up a blade?

I've done it, still alive. LOL

I don't see a problem welding up an edge or a nick, as long as it's for my own personal use.

I would never try extending or repairing by welding anything to do with the structure or integrity of the blade though!
