wanting to use some 2-4d ester in a hand spayer and trying figure what rate to use. The label has per acre rate and says for spot spraying to use a rate for 1000 square foot. Well, i don't know how maany gallons would cover that area. One fellow i talked to said 2%. Sound about right? I want it kinda hot, some tough vines to kill, but don't want to kill the grass if overspray occurs. Thanks a million.

If I am spraying the whole yard I do just a hair more than an ounce to the gallon. This does well with dandelions but isn't hot enough for clover. The yard doesn't get burned at all. If I am putting it in the hand sprayer to spot spray in the yard I do about double that but am pretty careful with it. Put a dab of dish soap in with it.

Forgot- if you bought it by the jug the one that is solvent-free (white liquid) isn't near as powerful IMHO.

When spraying crops we use to use 1 to 1 1/2 Pts. per acre in 15 gallons of spray. 15 gallons spray per acre.

So a 2 1/2 gallon sprayer would do 1/6 of an acre so say 16 oz per pint. 16 divided by six would be 2.7 oz in 2 1/2 gallons of water. That would cover a little over 7,000 sq. feet.
