Hay wagon with fold-down sides?

I'm going to replace the deck on one of my hay wagons and want to make sides that are about 18-24" tall that are on hinges so they can fold down. I don't want to use stake pockets because it would make it harder to take off 1 side off if I have a load of pumpkins or cob corn. I got some latches that will connect all 4 corners when the sides are up but need to find some good hinges which shouldn't be a problem.
Anyone ever done this to their wagon? Photos?? Any pointers or issues that I should build for?
Thank-you

Question you did not answer is just drop down to below bed and just hang or lay out flat with bed to load?

If I was going to do that I would just use some heavy strap ot T hinges or possibly just some strap gate hinges if I wanted to be able to remove the sideboards at some time as the only weight would be the sideboards or pressure of the load and you couls put enough of them to take care of that.

I have a friend that did just that. He did it in order to catch the ears of sweet corn coming off his mechanical picker. He would then pull the wagon to the yard where help would gather to sort through them, which was easier with the sides down. I don't have pics but I can tell you that the sides dropped down to vertical and that the sides were made up of two parts instead of one long one.
