Hello flembo,

Why not just modify you can? Use a tire valve stem. Take the core off and keep the cap!
It works for me.............

I know of a guy who installed plumbing bleeder valves in their plastic gas cans. Works great!

Probably available at your local hardware store.

I was also hoping to get the new plastic spout I don't like the hard plastic spout even tho I have hollowed it out and I have done the vent hole but I use a sheet metal screw to plug it. Tire valves sound good just haven't gone that far yet. I like John in la's idea. Thanks for all replies.
BTW my post also serves as a rant about those darn new cans. now I feel better.

Tried the tire valve stem in one can. It lasted just a few days and turned into black goop. I did use a brass valve stem that screws together in another can, it works good. 1/4 NPT all thread brass nipple works good, but my favorite so far is a 1/4" plastic 90 degree barbed elbow like is used on some spray booms etc. NPT on one end a barb fitting on other. Slide on a soft plastic cap from Lowes or TSC when not in use. Cannot remember what size bit I used to make hole in plastic 5 gallon fuel can, so the 1/4 pipe thread would screw in tight. Took a little trial & error.
