Doctor visit

Some people have all the luck! I need to schedule one of those soon. Dad had that cancer, his dad had it, dads brother and uncle had it, moms brother had it, not to mention The other cancers in the family. Scary stuff.

DO NOT PUT IT OFF. My Dad put off going to the Doctor and the neighbor found him just setting in the chair, and he was gone in 88 days. I have mine under control with some good drugs. PSA was up to 6.9 and back down to 3.7.

Better hope you don't get one who acts like he's trying to get the last pickle out of the jar.

It is not a lot of fun, but it could save your life. With me getting a DOT physical every 2 years the doc caught my cancer VERY early. Had prostate removed (nearly died from bleeding after surgery--doc said 1 out of over 200 sugerys he had done) and have been cancer free for 7 years.

rrlund.........you certainly have a way of turning something into "vivid". 'Having chased that last pickle myself....oh my, what you have given this poor guy to look forward to!!

A few years ago, I went for a physical and my Doc had a med student with him. After my Doc did the finger, he asked the med student had he ever done one of these. He said no. Doc said "Put a glove on and I will tell you how it's done".
I looked over my shoulder and said "Gee, thanks Doc". We all laughed.

I have not had one of those checks in years. I think two three ever. My Doctor gives me a PSA blood test every year and says if I don't have to get up in the night more than once a night and have a good stream the blood test is all that is needed. It is rare I have to get up in the night at all at 75.

I read pickle in your post. Didn't you want the posts about food products to stop yesterday.

When I went in for my physical, the doctor asked if I minded if his intern did the finger thing. I said, "No, but you're so good at it!" We all laughed too. I'll have to tell him about the pickle jar. Cracked me up!!!

Larry

It pays to have a sense of humor about the whole thing, and then it's done before you even knew it had started.

(quoted from post at 05:31:22 06/06/14) I get to go to the Doctor and play alien abductee Vs
the finger probe. How the heck did I get so lucky.

Nothing like the crisp snap of latex first thing in the morning.

Start worrying when he has both hands on your shoulders while doing the test!.LOL.......Good luck and I hope all goes well ......Sam

I had the same thing happen. The intern turned out to be kind of cute. While doing the hernia check she almost woke up my sleeping friend. Stan

Hey Roy, I've been around a good while, btdt many times. Now my long time docs retires and I go to a new younger docs; he hates doing it so we skip ever other year.
I've had nine colonoscopys; how many have you had?
Cancer free too!

Well I will tell you from experience...get checked. I put it off for years since I thought I was young and invincible. My wife made me get a physical in March and guess what - it was my lucky day. I've been probed by many doctors in the last two months and will be having surgery a week from Monday. Hopefully it has not spread to the lymph nodes. Gleason score of 8, psa 11.2, age 56. Looking back, a dre is not all that bad compared to the change my life is taking now....again, if you are 50 or older, get checked!
