What's in farm fresh eggs?

Everyone is worried what's in their food so I
thought I might add to it.

I know 2 people who raise cows and chickens. They
both sell farm fresh eggs. They are small timers.
The chickens follow the cows around looking for a
warm fresh meal.

So if you are what you eat? Does that mean you
really can make chicken salid out of cow poo?

My neighbor gave me some of his cow poo eggs. I
told No thanks, I don't eat eggs. I buy my eggs
from Wal-mart. It's best you don't know if the
chickens eat poo. Who knows what kinds of growth
hormones the cow eat.

Why don't you inform those of us cattlemen who don't know, just where to get these "hormones" that can be fed to cattle? I'd sure like to know about these things.

Yeah, I can remember the hens scratching around beneath the two-holer out back. Kinda gave a whang to the dumplings.

I'd rather eat the eggs from a chicken that scratches through the poo for corn and grains. Eggs fro Wally World have no flavor.

You will notice that most people that are allergic to something or prone to illness are people that eat all the commercial food from hog confinements, cattle yards, or chicken farms. Than farmers and families that eat food they raise that eat things you would not believe. I go out of my way to buy from free range farms. Of course it helps that I grew up on a farm and have connections to farmers to get the good stuff. Unfortunately, not many dairy farmers here to get my whole milk. That I do have to buy.

Lately I"ve enjoyed reading all the local ads for pasture raised/range fed Minnesota animals and eggs. Let"s see, the snow melted when, after the ground has been white since November?

farm fresh is all i"ll eat and that means I know where I get them, there is something in eggs that are raised commercially that will, and has put me in the hospital, I think its something in the feed they get, maybe not all egg farms feed whatever it is but I cant take that chance anymore , beef will do it to me too unless its grass feed beef thankfully I have easy access to that

What is the cleanest meat? This has been scientifically tested many years ago.

Chicken meat has the most impurities, as well as other fowl. Seems their digestive system doesn't filter out many impurities.

Beef is the next worst, followed by sheep.

The cleanest meat of all is from pigs. They have the best digestive system and their skin does not absorb the mud that they like to lay in.

We have a Amish man That Buys free range eggs from other Old order Amish Women, Pays them well, Round $2.00 a doz. Then when he has enough he takes them to Pittsburgh To the Farm market. Sells them for around $5.00 a Doz. For Farm Fresh Eggs. Well I don't know how long it takes him to get a load, But I do know the old order Amish can only keep them as cool as spring water... If they even wanted to keep them cool.

Ya,the wife has been buying some from some woman because they're "fresh". I asked her how long it took her to get enough to make a run to sell them? She didn't know. I told her I'd bet her anything she wanted to bet,the ones in the store from Herbrucks, the big mega egg producer just south of here were fresher.

The most aggravating part is when she boils those "fresh" eggs and throws a fit because the egg sticks to the shell when she tries to peal them and she just ends up with white crumbs and a yolk.

If you've ever been inside on of those big layer houses most likely you wouldn't really be too impreesed with the eggs as they have to soak up some of the amonia thats in the air.And I think eggs up to 30 days old can be sold as 'fresh' any egg over a week old ain't 'fresh' as far as I'm concerned.

If you've ever been to those large egg-laying facilities, you'd buy the fresh eggs and not even think twice.

I've always heard " if you knew what a chicken ate you wouldn't eat chicken". Seems like there's plenty of truth to that lol.

Those must be fresh eggs if they don't peel well. The eggs that are over a month old peel the best.
I visited one of these HUGE mega egg farms when I sold milk and eggs door to door. The farmer graded and stored the eggs for Supper chain stores. He said they were in his cooler for a minimum of a month before they rolled out the door.

First of all, don't think about this when you are sitting at the breakfast table.

Kind of like the Missionary lady in a foreign Country: Went to a market to buy chicken, only to see the bird killed, skinned, cut up and wrapped while she waited. When she got home all she could think about was seeing the chicken killed.

The family finally ate the chicken 4 days later. . .

Sort of reminds me of the dumb woman that was offered some fresh cow tongue. She made a comment something like, "Eeeewww. What's that cow had in it's mouth? There isn't any way I'd want to eat something like that! I'm just going to go over to McDonald's and have an Egg McMuffin......"

George give it a rest. Everyone knows you want all the small timers to die and go away so you can farm more land. We ain't going nowhere. Get over it. You don't feed the US much less the world, you never have and never will. That you can look up on the internet. We IMPORT FOOD!

OH by the way don't yell about nothing being made in the US when you support a company that imports so much stuff.

Since we started with chickens about 10 years ago I can no longer eat store bought eggs. Store bought: runny, pale yoke; no flavor. Home grown: rich flavor, egg yoke is Allis Chalmers orange!

Our cow poo only consists of chewed grass. Chickens like the day or two old cow pies because they'll have bugs. Chickens not eating the cow poo; eating the bugs that are eating the cow poo. They also eat mice, snakes and table scraps. Did you know chickens will drink milk out of a bowl? I didn't tell them it had turned and they didn't seem to notice.

One thing I recall they did NOT eat. A long time ago Waco had a Krispy Kreme donut store open up for a while, I think it lasted about a year. Anyway we ended up with some donuts of theirs from some event and one or two ended up in the scrap bucket. Chickens would not even touch it! Chickens will eat just about anything except Krispy Kreme donuts.

If it's so bad that a chicken won't eat it then I probably shouldn't eat it either!

Forgot to add that 60 to 70 percent of the chickens diet is green grass. They walk around clipping the tips of the grass.

not me, when the test was performed [ along with about 100,000 dollars of other tests] i wasnt aware that the meal was a test

You are just yanking chains, right? All animals eat what amounts to the waste products of other life. If you're drinking a nice cold glass of milk what you're actually drinking is liquid manure, chicken crap, by products of all sorts, dead bugs, worms, etc. The hamburger you eat is the same thing. The veggies you eat are the same. As long as the plant or animal is healthy, the rest is a matter of perception more than anything else.

Better donate your body to science. Yours would be the first scientific proof of the claims that you make.

I really like the small farm, back to local buying movement.

But, seems there is quite the whitewash, over zealous marketing done by a lot of these organic type places.

That kinda grates on a person.

Big farming, small farming, we are all farming. Don't know why there has to be so much animosity amongst farmers these days. Amongst the many good guys doing it quietly, there sure seems to be a vocal minority that really blow their claims and scare tactics way out of proportion, those few give the whole organic movement a black eye.

I would buy eggs from someone that lets their chichens run on ground. I have delivered into some of these large laying operations and they have some of the sickest looking chickens that I have ever seen( these chicken never see direct sun or touch the ground).

Chickens don't have a Bladder, the liquid waste comes out with the feces. That's why Chickens squirt their excrement.

Sodium Silicate is also known as "Water Glass" or "Egg Seal" . It is NOT a "dessicant" but is actually a sealer. It seals the pores in the egg shells and prevents oxidation of the Egg .
