IHC A-144 Cultivator for Farmall A Tractor

I am looking for the front rockshaft plates/bearings for an IHC A-144 cultivator to use on my 1946 Farmall A. I have all the parts except the left rockshaft plate/bearing for the front cultivators. I do have the right plate, but I would like to find a full set (both left and right) if I can. The part number is 30422B - right and 30421B - left.

Does anyone know where I can get these, or at a minimum, just the left bracket? It appears that I can probably have a new plate fabricated but I would have to find a new bearing. And does it have to be an actual bearing, or would a bushing suffice since it really isn't needed for a continually moving part? It only will rotate when I lift it at the end of each row. Seems to me maybe it should actually be a bushing...

The one I have (right side) is damaged so if there was a bearing in it, it is no longer there.

Thanks

Unfortunately that kind of stuff is almost impossible to find. You'll be better off looking for another, complete, set, or just having something made.

Odds are it is what you would consider a "bushing" in this day and age, not a "bearing" as in a ball bearing or roller bearing. Someone could turn one out of brass on a lathe if you take them part A inserted into part B and tell them to fill in the difference.

Fortunately, at least some of these parts are available somewhere yet. You have to do some searching, though.

Might be one of, if not the last new one in existence, but a yahoo search for "IH 30422B" yielded results that Ritchie Implement Inc. is supposed to have 1 of 30422B available. (800) 726-7278 I didn't come up with anything for 30421B

Call a CIH dealer (or Ritchie's) and have them do a further search. There may still be one or more new ones of either part number sitting on the shelf at dealers somewhere.

Put a wanted ad in the photo ads or classifieds here, too. Pictures help.

There were models A-134,136,138 and the 435 but no 144 for the As. They all used the same main frame sq bar mounted in the steering sector. Where you came up with a 144 for an A is hard to understand. Are you sure you donT have a cult for a SA as there would not be a way to raise and lower or even control depth with that cult on an A because the A does not have a rockshaft like SA to raise and lower.

The set I have originally came with this A (it was my grandfather"s and he did use them on it long ago). There are no markings on the set to indicate the model. I just figured it was an A-144 because it matched that version on the Case-IH parts website. I certainly am not sure what exact model it is, but since it seems to match that one, that was my assumption. Wouldn"t be my first mistake in this endeavor! At any rate, it appears I have all the major components - just need a few small parts. Do you know where I can find information / pictures / diagrams of the other models / implements you mention for the A? It seems to be hard to find a good reference that shows what exactly was available for the A, and all the people I know who had any knowledge of it are gone now. Any help / expertise you could provide would be appreciated.

I"d love to get the Lift-all portion system running, despite it"s bad reputation but the search for those parts is also proving difficult!

Thanks for your help!

If you want the exhaust lift i have the parts but your lift levers on your cult will not work with the exhaust system as that system takes different levers assy. You need to get a manual for your cult as you do not have a 144 like my post said. You can call me anytime at 319-430-3907
