ih 1066 hydraulic remotes problems

Having problems with my 1066 hydraulic remotes, thought it was my planter but I put my other equipment on the tractor and get the same thing, it won't raise my equipment unless it is full throttle. I have changed the filter and oil, didn't help much. Anyone any ideas.

I have A 1066 have owned and used 30 plus years if 3 point lift lever is all the way down remote will not work. move 3 point lift lever about 1 inch off bottom of down position remote works fine. it may be in the adjustment have never looked at it.

The relief valve on the 1066 is pilot operated which means that the valve is either closed or completely open. If the relief valve was open he would not be able to lift the planter by increasing engine speed. My first guess would be a blown O-ring between the hitch pump cover and the rear frame.

Other question Does the steering work. Or PTO if not then the spline or hub on the Pressure plate are bad. Yes the spline could slip and still might lift some. Not very likely. otherwise the relief valve could be the problem. Also like Leonard said about the draft lever.

3pt lever is in the middle, 3 pt, steering, pto all working good. switched the relief valve with one from an 806, at 1800rpms worked JUST ok so I put mine back in at the same rpms but seemed just a little slower. pushed on the valve with a small screw drive and the 806 one seemed alittle more stif. Thanks for the feedback.[/img]

This valve is PILOT OPERATED meaning the valve part that you can push to open is controlled by another smaller capsule inside the valve. The pressure setting of that capsule is what controls at what pressure the valve will open. A valve that is stuck in the open position will look and feel just like a good one because the part that is causing the problem is inside where it cannot be seen. Because it is a pilot operated valve when it goes bad it will open completely as soon as any oil flow reaches it and will stay open at all flow rates. That is why if the valve is bad increasing the engine speed will still not lift the planter. Your problem is not in the valve. You either have a pump that is not capable of creating enough pressure/flow or a leak. Since the problem came on rather suddenly most likely the problem is a leak. The most likely spot for that to happen is the O-ring between the hitch pump cover plate and the rear frame.

Well I took the hitch pump off today and sure enough that little o-ring was missing about 1/8 inch chunk out of it. While I had it apart I went ahead and replaced all the O-rings. CIH recommended that I put a Teflon o-ring on the inside of the new one that had blowen to help hold the shape of the new o-ring. Put all the oil back in and it works great now. Thanks for all your information, it really helped me out a lot.
