Howdy, a few days ago there were some questions about Bats and their houses. The included link is pretty good. A few years ago , I built and sold some 'Bat Houses' locally and got good responses from the purchasers. Bats are a GOOD thing to have around, the little suckers (no pun intended) eat their own weight in mosquitos and other bothersome insects EVERY day, HTH

i leave an outside light on for em when the bugs are thick to help em enjoy their meal.

I wish I had more bats here, have never seen more that a couple at a time.

My brother rented a house on the ocean. A few days into their vacation, one of his kids happened to look under his bed.

There was a whole bunch of bats hanging from the bottom of the bed.

His entire family (he's got 4 kids) had to go for a series of rabies shots, just in case.

Put up a bat house several years ago. As far as I Know, no bat has ever set foot in it. Don"t live in colse proximity to a lake or stream. Maybe thats why.

Wife was visiting an old outhouse at a state forest campground. Suddenly, I hear her scream "Larry, there's something in here!" I went and looked. The way they framed the roof left a gap at the ends of the ridge. There were bats looking down at her. She told me I should write a book and title it "Bats in the Outhouse."

White nose desease wiped out the bats around here we used to have a lot of them but haven't seen one in a several yrs. I read in the paper that not one colony of bats left in NH. Vermont had only one small colony left.

The colony that hibernates in Glenn Park here in northern NY is being affected by the white nose disease also and is in trouble. Don't see very many around anymore.

At work we have a rampant plague of "brown nose" disease. It doesn't seem to be fatal but it usually costs those affected their dignity.
