adding turbo to 4050?

We have a John deere 4050 that we"d like to add a turbo to....talked to my local dealer and they said 5 to ten years ago John Deere USE to offer a turbo kit for these tractors? Dealer says he cant find them anymore. Anybody have information on these kits or if there is a turbo kit out there for this tractor? Has the 466 motor in it

It would a lot cheaper to look for a similar tractor with a turbo.

Maybe find a turbo setup off a 4250 or other 42xx or 44xx models? Check out the salvage yards.

I think this would be really easy to do and much cheaper than trading tractors. Find the manifolds you need from salvage. For the turbo itself, I would just get a new one. You can find very good turbos online for $350-$450.

Must be an early 4050 with a 466 Waterloo. Late 4050's were built with a turbo Dubuque.
