The Light Turned Yellow

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up.

He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the 'chrome-plated Christian fish emblem' on the trunk, so naturally....I assumed you had stolen the car."

After cuss'in a blue streak, the other guy smiled, waved and said "See you in church" as he departed.

That was a long time ago, and I still remember him.

Not one of my finer moments.

Change a couple of the stickers to "Give Peace a Chance", various environmental Save the Owl type stickers, some pro abortion/pot/etc stickers and you have the idiot that was screaming at me the other day as I tried to get the tractor out of his way.

Couldn't you have "accidently" put the tractor in reverse?

And lower myself to his level?

Way back about forty years ago, one of the guys I worked with had a problem with a woman tailgating him, and blowing her horn as soon as the light in front of him changed to green. This went on through half a dozen lights. When the last light going out of town turned green, she was right on the horn again. Leo calmly pulled the emergency brake on and climbed out of his truck. She quickly wound the window up in case he wanted to reach in and smack her. Instead, he walked in front of her car and quickly popped the hood up. He then climbed back in his truck and went on through the light and about his business. Of course, by the time she got out of her car and put the hood back down, he was long gone, she had missed another green light and there were about a dozen cars behind her- all blowing theirs horns at her.......True story, from several witnesses who were behind her!!

A good story, but I would guess that in my county, she would end up with a settlement of $5k to $10k for false arrest.
