Tire Sixe vs. Rim Size

I have a Farmall A with rotted rear rims & tires. Since it has 9"x24" tires, I ordered 9"x24" rims. Big mistake-I now know that the 9" wide tires call for an 8" wide rim. It's impractical for me to return the 9" rims. I can't find anyone who makes a tire to fit the 9" rim. It looks like my best bet it to go to 11.2" x24" tires. They actually call for a 10" rim, but I've been told that they will probably fit what I have. Actually, I'd like to stick with 9" tires if they'd fit the 9" rims. Does anyone have experience fiddling with rim/tire sized like this? Thanks,

I think you are making a mountain out a molehill.

Mount 'em and run 'em!

(Of course, that is the opinion of a guy who grew up the son of a poor dirt farmer, and we had a LOT of stuff that wasn't perfect and "made do" with what we had. If money is NO object, sell what you've got and buy a perfectly matched pair.)

Using old size marking, it"s fine and normal to go with tires an inch wider or narrower than the rim. 11.2 is 10 inches wide, so fits ok on a 9 inch rim.

Do not give it a second thought, Thr old size 9" tire would now be 10.2 and will work just fine on the 9" rim

Orignaly your tractor had 7in measured 8 outside to outside and an 8.24 tire. You say 9in rims is that outside to outside if thats what they measure they are 8in and a 9.5x24 will fit just fine the 11.2 are too big to fit on an 8in rim so measure rims again and post. What are you using the tractor for as larger tires sure can cut power fast.

The new rims measure 10" outside to outside. They are an inch wider than what came with the tractor. It will be used for planting and cultivating vegetable beds-No heavy plowing or anything. I'll double check with the dealer in the morning, but I can't find 10.2 tires anymore (They appear to convert to 11.2 tires). That seems to be my best bet. I've been assured that they will fit the rims, although they may look funny. I'd prefer 9" tires, but I want to go tubeless and I may have a problem getting the beads to stretch enough to seat.
