chopping silage

The grass silage chopping has finally started here in Northern Ireland, only a few days late. Rain was forecast for this week but it never really happened around our part. Our small narrow roads will be very busy from now on! We usually only do a 24 hr (approx) wilt. We rake three 10 foot rows into one row for the chopper. Managed to get 130 acres lifted at our farm today. I will do some more over the next few weeks......Sam

Samn 40,

Did you ever finish your shed addition?

Thanks for posting the pictures.

Shed addition is not finished yet but we did put down more concrete yesterday......Hopefully I will get some help this week and get the roof on the main shed. It has been a very busy spring!........

Joe, we get rain little and often enough to keep us green! We never get the heavy deluges that I have witnessed in America but very often it will rain a fine steady rain for two days in a row.....The one blessing here is....although we are further North than most of you guys, our climate is very mild all year round. Grass sometimes grows all winter, although it is slow and the ground does get too wet to graze with anything other than sheep. The only down side of our Country is....Just how small and compact it is! Way, way too many 3 acre fields!!!.............Sam
