Electric fence around garden, has worked so far.

On the dogs getting chickens, nuts to waiting for the sheriff. Do the SSS and don't look back, the guy will probably have to instute thr rule of "if it is in the yard, it may be shot.":

wife says same thing about fence. may have to resort to one but i find they fence me out as well. going to try a bug zapper hanging in the garden this year. warm southern nights, plenty of bugs and the erratic and weird sounds they make when zapping may be enough to deter deer. we'll see.
