Bought a brand new Allis Chalmers

When I found out how much it irritated some people that Simplicity put the Allis name on these I knew I had to have one.
I was at the end of my rope with that old MTD Husky yesterday morning and went to town and bought this. He sold it to me out the door, delivered, for what I was going to offer difference if he'd take the old one in. It's not as stripped as some led me to believe. 23 horse, hydro, electric lift and electric deck clutch. Nice outfit.

I put the old one on Craigslist, advertised the motor but said they'd have to take the whole thing,$200. Somebody called two hours later and it was out of here an hour and a half after that.

Always thought they were white, never seen one black, didnt it have shields on deck or you already take them off.

I guess the black ones were the last ones made. No shields when they delivered it,but then, how many of us have cursed those things when we had to change a belt? If they don't tell me they forgot something,I'm not going to bring it up.

Sounds like a deal, good looking mower. Not so sure on those electric blade clutches. I replaced one for my neighbor on an Ariens and seems like it was over $200 for the parts. Easy fix, just expensive.

They're all Agco under the skin aren't they? LOL
That was the first place I saw them was at the Agco dealer, then I found out the hardware store right here in town sold them,so I thought "what the heck". At least there's none of that ugly orange paint on it.

(quoted from post at 13:54:48 05/16/14) That's more power than a CA had isn't it?
doubt it has more power than the 12 horse cast iron series kohler in my old 73 JD 112 ;)

Nice looking rig.
Do you know who actually made it?
The deck looks like it may be MTD to me.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, just curious.
Got any left over Meadow Green paint? ;)

Funny to see that brand on there, how long has it been ? Sure its re-badged, but it sells, you bought one LOL!

The dealer in Gregory by me had one last spring but it was orange and white, made by Simplicity. I thought it looked kind of cool.

It's a Simplicity. I assumed they made it. Don't know for sure. Brad said they went to them because Toro wasn't making tractors anymore, only zero turns.

I'd be a liar if I told you the thought of pealing those off and putting Oliver decals on it hadn't crossed my mind. There's no decal on the back of it and I've got a real nice little keystone decal here that would fit it like a glove.

Ya,the ones I saw at Card Brothers in Chesaning were orange and white. I liked the look of those right off the bat,but those colors among all this Oliver green didn't seem just quite right, but when I saw the black ones, now that was a different story.
I don't know how many the hardware store has,but the two display models are still out. They got this one out of a crate and set it up for me.

Actually, you DIDN'T buy an "Allis Chalmers"! Might as well buy a "Bell and Howell" or "Crosley" product off of the 'net, same relationship to the original company/brand name, but, dear Lord, makes the cash register RING!!!

WHAT is the "feel good thing" that comes from buying a Briggs and Scrapiron" with Alice Chambers decals on it????

Are you a Briggs stockholder?

LOL. I'm a Deere hater because I dare criticize the super store,an organic hater because I'm tired of being accused of trying to poison people. Now what,I'm an Allis hater because I bought something with the Allis name on it.
I just can't win can I? :)

Well, you got a nice mower, but if you would have waited a bit, you could have had an oliver 105, cockshutt 105, or both. Sykora Auctions have the Curtiss Collection up in Blanchard on June 12th, where those fine old mowers will sell.

I dunno, Briggs and Scrapiron prolly thinks you're SWELL!

(BW, this is all in good FUN, don't be hate'in me for the 'lil jab in the eye!)

Oh I know. That's exactly why I had to buy this one though instead of the orange one that said Simplicity on it. I traded that 1020 Deere off for a David Brown built Oliver before I got a chance to paint it Oliver green and put Fiat/Oliver decals on it. I had to have something else to tweak people who take life way too serious.

I'm a DEERE guy, but multitractoral!

We won't tell anyone I recently bought some goofy little FWA David Brown re-badged as a CIH.

SSSSHHHH! OK?

I'd like to make it up to that sale he's having the next day too. There's a Super 77,Super 88,1650 and two 1850s on that one, along with an Allis 6080 FWA,a Fiat 680 FWA and a Shepard SD-3.

I won't tell on you,but I'm pretty proud of my David Brown rebadged as an Oliver. If somebody else wants to claim these Olivers were all American,I can prove them wrong. I've got one made in England and one made in France.

I am 2 miles from those OLIVERS--leroy storrs. Big dunmpsters have been there hauling off tons of metal.
Leroy never married--worked hard all the time. Dick Fullerton, the Oliver dealer in Clare years ago, told me that Leroy would come in and buy a new Oliver and would dig in his pockets and pull out the cash to pay on the spot..........

I bought this one in Tennessee. Paid $200.00 for it. Stripped it to bare metal, rebuilt the engine and sent the pic to the original owner.
