I use liquid starter.Conklin,9-18-9.At the rate of 5 gpa. About $7.00/gal.The electric pump set works fantastic.Simple to set up. I see germination and emergence rates improve and be more uniform. And that can contribute to higher yields.....25 bpa according to some scourses

Looks good. I use granular 2x2, haven't gotten into liquid. Yours kicks in right away.

I was concerned with the steel barrel in the first picture, until I realized it was just a holder.

What are the chain loops for behind the wheels and what is the hose that bipasses the filter and pump going to the pressure side....oh that must be a bipass line to control the flow/ pressure right?
:Looks good, Grant

That looks like a good simple set up. I'm like Paul, couldn't figure out why you'd use a metal barrel until I got to the lower picture and seen that it is the barrel holder.

Do you think that set up would work for a 6 row. Not sure if the pump would put out enough GPM.

Could you send me the pics. I just might build one like it. E-mail is open.

Looks like a 3.0 gpm pump, so it depends on how much of an acre you can plant in a minute, I"d wager that it would work fine.

Should be fine as long as you don't plant in road gear.

I can say one thing , you have a nack for doing things. You get more out of older equipment than most folks can. That looks like a good set up for the liquid. We tried liquid but had trouble finding honest dealers. Never really knew what we were getting. Let us know this fall if you think the starter helped.

Yes,I later used it on a 6 row cultivatir. The 3 gpm pump was maxed out at the 30 gpa rate.I have since gone to a 5.5 gpm pump. that one has no problems with that rate, and lots more.Call me if you like. 970-874-3973

That stuff is just a 'starter'. 9-18-9 is the 'ratio'. Common dry is 11-52-00;18-46-00;34-00-00.........Liquid uran (the stuff you sidedress with) is 32%

Looks good to me!

I have an 8 row with a 6 GPM pump and 5 to 10 GPA can be done at 5 to 6 mph. I have an electric valve to regulate pressure from the cab.

Been useing the starter for 5 years now.I've seen better yeilds, but I have no 'proof'.The biggest thing is more even, stronger germination/emergence with more vigor.

The fertilizer in question weighs 11.05 pounds per gallon. Five gallon per acre gives you 55.25 pounds of product per acre. Nine percent of 55.25 pounds is 4.97 pounds of nitrogen and 4.97 pounds of potassium. Phosporous comes in at 9.945 pounds per acre.
