Barn Roof Sealer

What is a good sealer to coat my steel roof on my old barn? Looking for something that will cover a few old nail holes and coat the steel to prevent it from rusting any more. Thinking some type of aluminiumized roof coating.
Any good sources to get it from?
Also someone told me that he would mix 1 gallon of diesel to 5 gallons of the sealer, would u recommend doing that?

Read the label and follow the directions. I painted out-buildings for many years and was told the customer was always right. When ever they told me to dilute the paint and it would work better I said read and follow the directions on the can as I wouldn't warranty the job if they diluted the paint. I did as the owner told me on two jobs and it lasted half as long as it should have so that is proof as far as I am concerned.

I use Fibered Aluminum Roof Paint. The rust should be wire brushed before painting. Not to shiny metal , just enough to remove the active rust.

A few years ago I coated a leaky barn roof with a product called "Silver Dollar Fibered Aluminum Roof Coating" and it worked very good. I first cleaned the metal roof as well as I could. The coating came out of the can kind of like oatmeal and I spread it out with a mop, working it into the cracks and known problems areas. When finished it looked very nice and had a metallic silver color and had a rubbery consistency when dried. It solved all of my leak problems and the old barn is still sealed up tight today. I bought it at Lowes.

I've used aluminized mobile home roof coating for years with good results. Put it on with a mop, lasts at least 10 years. I have gotten it at Rural King, but it's available other places.
