OT---War with chipmunks

I am having a lot of damage done by these "cute" little ground squirrels!
They have dug under my driveway and sidewalk and tore up most of my wife's flowers.
Enough is enough, so I tried the five gallon bucket and board and caught a few. I have also gotten a few with rat trap.
I did an experiment about a month ago, and it worked great.
I noticed when they see me, they will escape, most of the time, into the ten foot corrugated gutter drain.
I simply stop the open end of the drain pipe with a rag and spray Starting Fluid where the drain enters the downspout. A five or ten second spurt puts them to sleep.
A little more humaine and I have not seen one in several days.
Now to start repair to some of the holes they dug, and get after the Carpenter Bees that are doing extensive damage to my Barn and Deck!

Needs a small jar of nitroglycerin.lol.Shake well before using, ends all of your worries about ground squirrels and any other problem.lol

I have put mouse poison down their holes with go results. But I wouldn't use if I have pets running around yaed. I have shot them with .22 cal. shell shot.

Yes I have killed quite a few with shell shot.
I have also made a couple of bee traps and have caught about 15 but have swatted over 75! I mixed up some Carpenter Ant and Termite solution and spray with a one quart pump up sprayer. What I don't spray while flying, I spray into the bored holes and then fill the holes with Bondo Body Filler. That seems to be the best solution.

ATV exhaust down a piece of flex into hole. Only drawback the survivors will chirp at you for days cause they know you killed their buddies.

I have a cat that likes a steady diet of them little munks. Found the back half of one this morning outside the back porch. Second time in 2 days.

When I was a young kid I got a Marlin 39A for Christmas. No more chipmunks seen for several years after that.

(quoted from post at 20:45:56 05/15/14) Can you just leave some anti-freeze out for them?
No--I would love for them to freeze! LOL
I think I have found a pretty fair solution as I always keep plenty of start fluid and carb cleaner. And it only takes about one half the amount I use to start my Case Backhoe.

Are you sure the eather is killing them?. I once
sprayed 2 can fulls in a wall where bumble bees
were (had to get rid of them to complete a
remodeling job) and all I did was give them a good
night's sleep.

If you spray poison in the hole do not fill it up with calk as the poison in the hole will kill a bunch of the pesky carpenter bees. You will find them on the ground buzzing their death songs all summer.

The purpose for filling the holes is that these critters are communal. They will fly around an area searching for a hole to lay their egg. Several different bees will use the same hole.
The existing holes seems to encourage nesting, and they will bore new holes in the area if there are no available holes.
I am certainly no authority on this subject, this is what I have read during research and observation.
You may be correct in that the chemical will kill more bees, but I suspect too much chemical will be absorbed into the wood to be of benefit.
I will consider doing as you suggested.

Use your propane weed burner, pump the hole full of propane then hit the piezoelectric igniter. KABOOM! No more munks.
